Abila offers two versions of the software, the classic MIP Fund Accounting™, which has evolved over 30 years, and MIP Advance™, which was introduced in 2015 as the browser-based product that is only available in Abila’s multi-tenant, cloud hosted environment. MIP Advance™ includes all of the MIP core modules with a modern user-interface, but the same functionality as in the classic version. Abila has added features to MIP Advance that are not in the MIP Fund Accounting™ classic version, including dynamic dashboards and a new reporting engine. Underneath the different user interfaces, at the SQL database level, the versions are the same. In fact, when you subscribe to MIP Advance™ you also get the MIP Fund Accounting™ with the flexibility of using either.
Abila elected to provide choice in its product strategy to accommodate a large present-user base and new customers who, for their own reasons, require or prefer a MIP classic solution that they can manage on-premises or in a private hosted environment. MIP Advance™ represents the current direction of application software and meets the competition that does not offer choices.
